IT & Optimization Director

Basic Job Description

The IT & Optimization Director is responsible for the overall strategy, security, infrastructure, and day-to-day operations of the organization’s information technology systems and the optimization of our transportation network. This role ensures technology supports business objectives, maintains data security and compliance, and provides reliable systems for employees and clients. The Director leads IT staff, Optimization staff, manages vendors, works closely with development team, and plans for future technological needs.

Hours will be a mixed schedule that may consist of 8a‑5p, 1p‑9p, or 10a‑7p generally Monday through Friday with additional hours and days depending on business needs.

• Develop and implement the organization’s IT strategy aligned with business goals.
• Leverage our custom-built app, spreadsheets, Next Billion.ai’s vehicle routing optimizer, Samsara fleet management and communication tools to generate, validate, and communicate optimized solutions.
• Inspect and validate data inputs/outputs (SQL, JSON, CSV) to ensure clean, reliable results.
• Analyze operational data to identify patterns of demand and driver utilization.
• Collaborate with leadership and technical partners to build predictive models for staffing and scheduling, enabling Ride Care to scale effectively while managing costs.
• Champion the use of data in operations to facilitate the organization’s growth from single state to nationwide.
• Oversee all IT infrastructure including networks, servers, hardware, software, and cloud services.
• Ensure cybersecurity, data protection, and disaster recovery plans are in place and tested.
• Maintain compliance with applicable regulations (HIPAA, or other industry standards).
• Manage budgets, forecasting, and cost control.
• Lead, train, and evaluate staff; establish performance expectations.
• Responsible for hiring, training, performance, and corrective actions.
• Oversee helpdesk operations and ensure timely resolution of technical issues.
• Manage relationships with vendors, consultants, and service providers.
• Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve efficiency and security.
• Establish and enforce IT and Optimization policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Maintain 24/7 responsibility for IT and Optimization oversight and performance.
• Provide regular reporting to executive leadership on system performance, risks, and initiatives.
• Perform additional duties assigned by leadership.

• Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7+ years of progressive experience, including leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of network architecture, cybersecurity, cloud platforms, system administration, software, and data tools.
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex projects.

• Ability to translate technical concepts into business terms.
