Job Description

Students assist patrons using the History of Science Collections, the Bass Business History Collection, the John and Mary Nichols Collections, and the Bizzell Bible Collection. Duties include staffing the Welcome Desk, the Research Desk, greeting visitors, answering telephone calls, explaining reading room rules, and paging books for patrons. Students may also assist with digitization projects, fill inter‑library loan requests, manage stacks, perform maintenance tasks, and other duties as assigned.

Students may be asked to work occasional evening or Saturday events.

Job Requirements

Education: Must be currently enrolled in the Spring 2026 semester as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring is contingent upon verification of current student status.

  • Attach Spring 2026 OU class schedule.
  • State hours available to work.

Skills:

  • Basic computer skills
  • Customer service skills
  • Effective written and oral communication in English

Physical Requirements:

  • Regular bending, carrying, climbing, lifting, and reaching.

Department Preferences:

  • Preference for students able to work more than one semester.
  • Previous library work experience.
  • Comfortable with a variety of software, database applications, and new information technologies.
