Job Description

Student Service Experts provide integrated student services to University students, families, and staff in the areas of billing, financial aid, and scholarships. The Student Service Expert will support and meet the service requirements that align with the culture and goals of Enrollment Student Financial Services.

Responsibilities
  • Update system checklists to reflect receipt of documents.
  • Monitor entrance/exit online counseling.
  • Update forms for use on website and office e‑files.
  • Correspond with students concerning additional documentation needed to continue financial aid processing.
  • Offer guidance and next steps to students and families regarding a financial plan to pay college expenses.
  • Respond to student inquiries regarding billing, payment plans, and financial aid options (including loans, grants, and scholarships).
  • Review financial aid e‑mails and respond to questions.
  • Send out global e‑mail messages to students and groups of students concerning various issues at Director’s request.
  • Initiate verification process and review verification documentation submitted by student.
  • Complete system updates with information submitted for verification, troubleshoot discrepancies, and verify students’ enrollment and award accuracy.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies.
  • Initial contact person for students and parents; provide answers for basic application and processing questions.
  • Provide general office and administrative support by performing data maintenance, reception, records activities, information distribution, and correspondence.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure overall departmental success.
Job Requirements

Required Education and Experience
:
High School diploma or GED, AND 48 months of financial aid, general office, clerical, or related experience.

Skills
:

  • Detail oriented for accurate date information.
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to build rapport with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to produce reports and complete work within deadlines.
  • Strong initiative to solve problems.

Working Conditions

Physical
:
Must be able to work in a sitting position, use a computer, and answer telephone.

Environmental
:
Office work environment.

Departmental Preferences
  • Experience working in a Student Financial Center.
  • Knowledge of higher education.
  • Familiarity with federal financial aid policies and procedures.
