Accounting Manager, Financial Reporting
Commercial Door, a growing leader in the commercial construction industry specializing in the installation and service of a wide variety of commercial doors, frames, and hardware, is seeking an experienced Controller to lead our accounting operations.
This on‑site role is ideal for a hands‑on accounting professional who thrives in a fast‑paced construction environment and wants to play a key role in strengthening financial processes, supporting project profitability, and driving operational excellence.
The Controller will oversee day‑to‑day accounting functions, ensure accurate financial reporting, and partner with leadership to support sustainable growth.
Responsibilities- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close process
- Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and billing
- Manage job costing and ensure accurate project‑level financial tracking
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts
- Supervise general ledger activity and chart of accounts
- Coordinate with project managers on WIP reporting and revenue recognition
- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports
- Oversee cash flow management and forecasting
- Ensure compliance with tax filings, payroll reporting, and regulatory requirements
- Develop and strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures
- Serve as primary liaison with external CPA firms, auditors, and lenders
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Prior experience as a Controller or Senior Accountant, preferably in construction
- Strong understanding of accrual accounting and GAAP
- Experience with job costing and percentage‑of‑completion accounting
- Proficiency in accounting software (Quick Books or construction ERP preferred)
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Background in commercial construction or specialty subcontracting
- Experience with WIP schedules and project‑based accounting
- Familiarity with retainage, lien waivers, and construction billing processes
- Experience working with project managers and operations teams
- Experience improving accounting systems and processes in a growing company
