Job Summary

This is a position that is to start in April for the duration of this spring semester (no work required during finals week) with the intent to resume when school starts in the fall semester. Summer work is not available.

The Redbird Philanthropy Engagement Ambassador will work as a part of the Redbird Philanthropy Engagement Center (RPEC) team and reports to the Associate Director, RPEC. This position calls donors and potential donors to initiate conversations and ask for donations. This position also utilizes personalized video messages, email and text. This position is tasked to engage with an assigned portfolio of donors and potential donors across a multitude of fundraising marketing channels utilizing communication cadences or touchpoints to maximize relationship building and secure fundraising production.

The Redbird Philanthropy Engagement Ambassador is a representative of Illinois State University and the Office of Annual Giving, providing updates on campus events and changes, information on scholarships and giving opportunities, and reflections on personal experiences of Illinois State University.

The position will be tasked with achieving personal fundraising metrics determined by the Associate Director, RPEC. This position requires strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to maintain positivity and professionalism in demanding situations, and the ability to think strategically in a fast‑paced environment.

The Redbird Philanthropy Engagement team is an excellent opportunity to develop knowledge and expertise in communication, fundraising, and public relations and build a skill set and demonstrated success that will enhance a professional resume. Other responsibilities can include:

  • Serve as an ambassador by establishing an open line of communication between the assigned College and its supporters.
  • Gain a greater understanding of the assigned College, its organizational structure, and its annual needs for financial support.
  • Conduct video calls with constituents (alumni, parents, friends, etc.) to build personal rapport, engage, and generate gifts to support college and university funding priorities.
  • Work with other students in a team‑oriented environment to achieve institutional goals.

The Illinois State University Foundation is a not‑for‑profit organization that manages the private gifts that are given to the University each year. The Foundation ensures that money given to Illinois State is used as the donor intended and is consistent with the mission of the University.

Pay Rate

$16.00/hour

Required Qualifications
  • Current Student enrolled at Illinois State University
  • Prior work experience in a professional setting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a special focus on interpersonal skills with new people
  • Ability to follow directions & meet established deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a self‑starter and self‑motivator
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues to achieve organizational goals
  • Demonstrated ability to behave in a manner that ensures confidentiality of donor data
  • Maintain a professional, courteous, and honest demeanor with alumni, donors and colleagues
  • Attend 4 shifts a week

Creative problem‑solver who can identify gaps and opportunities and share recommendations.

Work Hours

Sunday: 12‑4pm, 4‑8pm

Monday: 1‑5pm, 5‑9pm

Tuesday: 1‑5pm, 5‑9pm

Wednesday: 1‑5pm, 5‑9pm

Thursday: 1‑5pm, 5‑9pm

Friday: 1‑5pm
