JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Substitute Teacher

Department: Unit Office

Reports to: Building Principal(s)

FLSA Class: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing classroom instruction and support to Unit 5 students.

DUTIES

Assume duties of the classroom teacher in accordance with school district lesson plans and school rules.

Leading instruction in the classroom by following the teacher's lesson plans.

Instructing students on a variety of classroom topics.

Building positive relationships.

Motivate students to learn, and encourage classroom participation.

Create a classroom environment that's conducive to learning and appropriate for the students.

Adapt to the various learning styles and social needs of students.

Maintain order in the classroom and demonstrate confidence working with students with varying strengths and skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree or higher.

Ability to obtain and maintain the Substitute License through the Regional Office of Education (ROE #17).

Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time.

Enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner.

Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils.

SCHEDULING

The work hours for this position are based upon the schools' hours of operation and the school-year calendar. You will have the flexibility to choose when, where, and how often you substitute teach.

COMPENSATION:

Regular daily rate is $130.00/full day.
For retired Unit 5 Teachers, the daily rate is $150/full day.

The Long Term (more than 10 consecutive days in the same classroom) Substitute Rate is $170.00/full day.
For retired Unit 5 teachers, the long term substitute rate is $195.00/full day.
