Job SummaryUniversity College invites qualified individuals to apply for a part-time, non-tenure-track teaching position for IDS 128 – Thriving in College, Career and Beyond. Instructor Duties- Be directly responsible for the facilitation of one class section of IDS 128 – Thriving in College, Career, and Beyond.
- Complete pre‑semester and ongoing training.
- Hold weekly scheduled office hours.
- Attend each 50‑minute class session (three days a week, M/W/F) and hold a one‑on‑one meeting with each student throughout the semester.
- Be responsible for ensuring that attendance is correctly taken for each class and reported in Canvas.
- Be responsible for grading all assignments and correctly submitting grades/feedback in Canvas.
- Complete and submit Early Alert, Progress Report, and Final grades.
- Insurance benefits including health, dental, vision, and life (eligibility determination).
- Retirement and supplemental retirement planning options.
- Tuition waiver benefits available to staff as well as their eligible dependents.
- Paid benefit time.
Starting at $1,250 per month based on Part Time Equivalent for a 3‑credit hour course.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Prior experience teaching, tutoring, or facilitating educational development sessions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including listening, communication, and teamwork, and a commitment to student success.
- Must be able to work independently and without intense supervision but also effectively contribute to an instructional team with a learner‑centered and service‑oriented philosophy.
- Demonstrated experience in working with students, faculty, departmental staff, and campus administrators, as well as off‑campus contacts.
- State law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in English as a requirement for this position.
- Master’s Degree.
- College‑level teaching or tutoring experience.
- Prior experience working with First‑time in College (FTIC) students.
- Employed by ISU or previously employed by ISU.
- Understand the challenges facing college students today.
- Strong knowledge of the ISU campus, including culture, resources, and disciplines.
