Job Summary:

University College Academic Peer Advisors (APAs) assist students with developing academic plans and connecting them with campus resources through professional advice and personal experience.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the University College Advising office with answering phone calls, checking-in students in the reception area, scheduling appointments for advising staff, and providing timely and accurate information to appropriate University offices.
  • Assist full-time professional advisors in helping students (primarily in their first year) successfully transition academically at Illinois State University.
  • Assist in the delivery of University College programs and services, which may include public presentations.
  • Acquire a general knowledge of University programs, services, and policies including all applicable academic deadlines.
  • Dates of employment:
    August 13, 2026-May 7, 2027 (May include University breaks). Optional summer availability from May 18-August 12, 2026 (Dependent on office needs for Preview 2026).

Pay Rate

$15.00/hour

Required Qualifications
  • Current undergraduate students only
  • Minimum GPA: 2.75
  • Minimum 1-year commitment
  • Available for mandatory pre-semester training on August 13, 2026 & August 14, 2026.
  • Available for mandatory weekly training throughout each semester on Thursdays from 8:00am - 8:50am
Work Hours

8:00am - 4:30pm Monday through Friday
