Job Summary:
University College Academic Peer Advisors (APAs) assist students with developing academic plans and connecting them with campus resources through professional advice and personal experience.
- Assist the University College Advising office with answering phone calls, checking-in students in the reception area, scheduling appointments for advising staff, and providing timely and accurate information to appropriate University offices.
- Assist full-time professional advisors in helping students (primarily in their first year) successfully transition academically at Illinois State University.
- Assist in the delivery of University College programs and services, which may include public presentations.
- Acquire a general knowledge of University programs, services, and policies including all applicable academic deadlines.
- Dates of employment:
August 13, 2026-May 7, 2027 (May include University breaks). Optional summer availability from May 18-August 12, 2026 (Dependent on office needs for Preview 2026).
Student employees are eligible to participate in the University’s 403(b) Plan. More information can be found here.
Pay Rate$15.00/hour
Required Qualifications- Current undergraduate students only
- Minimum GPA: 2.75
- Minimum 1-year commitment
- Available for mandatory pre-semester training on August 13, 2026 & August 14, 2026.
- Available for mandatory weekly training throughout each semester on Thursdays from 8:00am - 8:50am
8:00am - 4:30pm Monday through Friday
