Position: Welcome Week Student Crew

Overview

Title: Welcome Week Student Crew

Job Summary:

Learn and gain experience in the behind-the-scenes process that goes into implementing large-scale events.

Responsibilities

  • Set up events by gathering, moving, and preparing supplies for an event.
  • Assist in the implementation of social events.
  • Staff events and remain on site for the duration of the event.
  • Assist with event take-down and evaluation.
  • Learn and gain experience in outreach, relationship building, and public speaking.
  • Assist with educational and informational sessions.
  • Welcome attendees at check-in and arrival, and engage with students and families throughout events and between sessions.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned throughout Welcome Week.
  • Participate in training prior to the Welcome Week program.
  • Note:

    Student Crew members will not be available to work other on-campus or off-campus jobs during Welcome Week (August 10 – 16, 2026).
  • There are multiple positions available.

Pay Rate

$15.00/hour

Required Qualifications

  • All student employees in the Dean of Students Office must maintain good academic standing (minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA) and student conduct standing from the point of application through term of employment. The employer will check status at the beginning and the end of each semester of employment.
  • Must be an enrolled student during the fall 2026 semester (5 graduate credit hours or 6 undergraduate credit hours).

Work Hours

Various – morning, afternoon, and evening. 5-7 hours TOTAL (not per week) in April 2026. An additional 30-35 hours during Welcome Week:
August 10-16, 2026.

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

  • Move about in various locations across campus as needed to complete day-to-day work.
  • Effectively communicate on a daily basis.

Proposed Starting Date

Training will take place April 2026, with implementation in August 2026.
