Elementary Writing Curriculum Adoption Task Force

Title: Elementary Writing Curriculum Adoption Task Force
Position Type: Certified – Extra Work Assignment/Task Force
Location: Unit Office
Reports to: Maureen Backe, Director of Elementary Education

Qualifications
  • Elementary teaching certificate
  • Classroom Teachers
  • LBS1s (Resource, SSP, Instructional)
  • Bilingual Teachers
  • Administrators
  • Due to the cost of materials, we will have a limit on the number of staff on the task force.
    • The goal is to balance representation from Title and non-Title schools
    • Singles and Doubles - 1 K-2nd and 1 3rd-5th teacher
    • Triples and Quads - 1 K-1st, 1 2nd-3rd, 1 4th-5th teacher
    • 8 resource Lbs1s
    • 4 program Lbs1s
    • 2 elementary ESL teachers
    • 2 bilingual teachers
Task Force Responsibilities
  • This task force is a multiyear commitment
  • Spring and Summer 2026
    • Collaborate on a curricular evaluation tool
    • Provide input and feedback on different writing curricula resources
    • Attend preview days to review different writing curricula/resources
    • Attend vendor presentations
    • Attend summer planning, collaboration, and application days
  • Fall 2026
    • Pilot lessons from various vendors
    • Rate resources and materials
    • Provide input on a selection
  • Winter 2027
    • New adoption will be finalized
    • Task Force members pilot for the remainder of the 26-27 school year
    • Attend all training on the new curriculum materials
    • Provide input on a professional development plan for the 27 - 28 school year
    • Provide input on the scope and sequence for instruction and the Unit 5 curriculum map
    • Help deliver spring PD for all teachers if needed
    • Implementation year for all grade levels
    • Serve as a trainer/support for your grade level throughout the 27-28 school year
Task Force Dates
  • February 23, March 10th, April 8th, April 13th, April 22nd, May 13th, Summer TBD
Compensation

Stipend per hourly rate for curriculum work per contractual agreement for work outside of the school day
