Norfolk, Virginia is America's most authentic and urban waterfront city. This position seeks a Family Services Associate to educate clients in utilizing available resources, provide in‑home counseling, empower parents, and collaborate with professionals to enhance service delivery.

Department Hiring Salary Range: 41,231 - 47,415. A one‑time 5,000 signing bonus is available for new hires.
Responsibilities- Assess families’ basic needs, budget expenditures, and enhance family functioning.
- Work with foster, adoptive, and relative parents to prepare for transition and return to custody.
- Manage caseloads: maintain files, telephone contacts, referrals to private vendors, authorizing payments, transporting clients, supervising visitations.
- Perform general math computations and validate figures for financial reports.
- Maintain written case documentation and advocate client data to case managers, courts, schools, mental health professionals, and landlords.
- Assist caseworkers with court‑related duties, attend hearings with reports and testimonies, file petitions and affidavits, and coordinate with attorneys and law enforcement.
- Obtain additional information through records searches, state reports, and automated system searches.
- Prepare monthly statistical reports.
- Provide case management with supervisors and other parties; keep factual formal records via computer systems.
- Conduct home studies, prepare written reports, coordinate meetings, and resolve crisis situations concerning personal safety, shelter, food, and clothing.
- Make referrals for services, work with local providers, and coordinate agencies such as schools, courts, and mental health providers.
- Participate in staff and training meetings as assigned.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Two‑year associate’s degree, diploma, or equivalent in a related field is required. No prior experience is required.
Additional Requirements- Valid driver’s license may be required.
8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
