Duties
* You will serve as a Telecommunications Mechanic, Infrastructure Maintenance Division, External Support Department, in Norfolk, Va.
* You will perform inside and outside plant work of the division, which is tasked with accomplishing construction, installation, maintenance, and repair services of fiber optics and copper communications infrastructure.
* You will use various types of electronic test equipment, analyze system failures, isolate and document causes of outages.
* You will troubleshoot, test splices for shorts, opens, transposed/reversed pairs, crosses, splits, shield continuity, shield to earth grounds, bonding and grounding, on copper cables.
* You will maintain accountability of all items, vehicles, tools, and test equipment assigned to the section.
* You will provide technical support for planned projects consisting of switching and transport networks supporting analog, digital, voice, data, and video teleconference services. Requirements Conditions of employment

* You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
* This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
* You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment medical examination.
* This is a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce (CSWF) position in specialty area Acquisition and Program/Project Management DOD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF) work code 441, Network Operations Specialist.
* You will be required to comply with the DON Cyber IT/CSWF Program requirements of SECNAV M-5239.2.
