Job Description
The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for servicing electrical and mechanical systems, including repairs, additions, modifications, and preventive maintenance on all associated equipment for movable bridges in the Hampton Roads Area. The role involves leading and training other electricians or maintenance personnel on the job site.
Responsibilities- Install and monitor the performance of installed electrical and mechanical equipment for hazards, adjustments, or replacement.
- Repair, install, replace, and test electrical and mechanical equipment using appropriate tools and testing instruments.
- Plan electrical secondary system additions or modifications.
- Perform work of lower-level electricians or maintenance mechanics as required.
- Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in secondary (1000 volts) circuits and systems including cutouts, switchgears, and transformers.
- Isolate faults in 1000 voltage distribution systems and replace cable runs.
- Operate, repair, and replace all 1000 voltage controls and switchgears.
Skills & Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in a similar position and environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Electrical Journeyman or Masters License.
- Registered in DPOR (Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation) if not registered in Virginia the willingness to transfer license to this state.
- Valid Driver's License.
Employees are provided with a company vehicle, 401k, paid vacation, paid holidays, full benefits, and a $2,500 sign‑on bonus after successful completion of 3 months.
Work Environment- This role requires working on movable bridges in the Hampton Roads area, primarily in a construction‑type environment outdoors.
- Shift: 7:30am - 3:30pm, Monday - Friday
- Pay: $32.00/hr - $40.00/hr based on experience
This is a Permanent position based out of Norfolk, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $66,560.00 - $83,200.00/yr.
Workplace TypeThis is a fully onsite position in Norfolk, VA.
