Service Technician / Equipment Mechanic Job Description

As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing various construction equipment at multiple construction projects across Hampton Roads. Your expertise will be crucial in assessing parts needed for repairs, communicating with various teams, and transitioning between projects as necessary.

• Inspect and perform diagnostic tests on construction equipment.

• Will work with ariel lifts, material handling equipment, earth moving equipment, skid steers, generators, air compressors, pumps, and more.

• Troubleshoot and repair equipment on-site at various projects.

• Assess parts needed for repairs and communicate with the parts department.

• Lead complex repair projects involving multiple technicians.

• Prepare parts lists and estimate labor time for equipment repairs.

• Document and report the status of repairs and maintenance.

• Mechanical & electrical maintenance knowledge

• Strong troubleshooting & installation abilities.

• Basic computer skills for documentation purpose

• 5+ years of experience with heavy or construction-related equipment.

• Ability to drive company vehicle.

• Experience in construction settings.

• Technicians are expected to own your own basic tools, all other specialty tools and equipment will be provided.

• Work Schedule/Shift: 7:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday

• 30-minute unpaid lunch and two 15-minute paid breaks.

• Overtime pay is available for hours worked over 40 in a week.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Norfolk, VA.

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $42.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Norfolk,VA.
