Position: Sheet Metal Mechanic (Job )

Pay Range: $23 - $28 per hour

• Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate need for a Sheet Metal Mechanic who will be key in fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing sheet metal products and equipment, such as vent ducting, compartment partitions, stowage, and counter spaces.
• The job is located in Norfolk Virginia.

• Sets up and operates fabricating machines including shears, brakes, bending rolls, and punch and drill presses to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal.
• Shapes metal over anvils, blocks, or forms using hammer.
• Sets up and operates soldering and welding equipment to join sheet metal parts.
• Smooths seams, joints, or burred surfaces using files and portable grinder or buffer.
• Installs assemblies according to blueprints, engineering sketches, written instructions or manuals.
• Inspects assemblies and installations for conformance with specifications, using measuring instruments including calipers, scales, and micrometer.
• Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced staff members.

• Must have High school diploma or Trade School or equivalent with at least 3 years of related experience.
• Must have at least 3 years of related sheet-metal fabrication experience.
• Must have experience with confined spaces.

• Have an active OSHA 10HR Certification
• Have or can obtain a passport
• Have experience with installation of Berthing and Heads

• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance to access public and private shipyards and Naval installations.
• Must meet REAL requirements for base and travel access.

• Moderate Travel Required up to 50%
• If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL . • Repetitive motion, Climbing, Balancing, Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, Crawling, Reaching, Standing, Walking, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting, Picking, Grasping, Talking, Hearing, and Visual Acuity (depth perception).
• Subject to outside environmental conditions (extreme cold/heat), subject to noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions (affect the respiratory system), frequently work in close quarters and/or function in narrow aisles or passageways (areas that could cause claustrophobia).
• Protective clothing or equipment and face shields or goggles shall be worn when welding, cutting, or working with molten metal.
