Job Description

Boarhog will hire a Systems Administrator in Norfolk VA to support the Surface Combat Systems Training Command (SCSTC) which requires Network Administrative Support, including Information Management, Computer and Local Area Network (LAN) Administration, Cyber Security, System Assessment and Authorization (A&A),

Functional Area

Needs Analysis / Research, Technical Documentation, and Technical Helpdesk Support. SCSTC consists of the Command and Staff located in Dahlgren, Virginia, as well as SCSTC Units, Sites, and Detachments worldwide. Travel may be required to locations such as Mayport FL, Pearly Harbor HI, Everett WA, Rota Spain, and Yokosuka Japan. The use of overtime is authorized when necessary to cope with emergencies, to perform tests, or conduct operations that are continuous in nature and cannot reasonably be interrupted or completed otherwise.

The Boarhog Program Manager will support the Systems Administrator while overseeing contract performance an hour away from Norfolk, VA.

REQUIRED SKILLS and KNOWLEDGE:

    • Virtualization technologies and virtual machine management
  • Security Expertise
    • IT security principles and methods (e.g., firewalls, DMZs, encryption)
    • Network security architecture concepts (topology, protocols, defense‑in‑depth)
    • Cybersecurity principles, threats, and vulnerabilities
    • National and international cybersecurity laws, regulations, and policies
    • Organizational IT user security policies (e.g., account management, access control)
    • Data security standards (PII, PCI, PHI)
    • System administration, network, and operating system hardening techniques
    • Software‑based computer protection tools (e.g., firewalls, antivirus, antispyware)
    • Knowledge of transmission records (Bluetooth, RFID, IR, Wi‑Fi, etc.) and jamming techniques
  • System Administration
    • Server and client operating systems
    • Systems administration concepts and best practices
    • Enterprise IT architecture
    • System/server diagnostic tools and fault identification
    • Operating system command line/prompt (e.g., ipconfig, netstat, dir, nbtstat)
    • System maintenance procedures (cleaning, disk checks, reboots, backups)
  • Cloud Computing
    • Cloud computing service models (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS)
    • Cloud computing deployment models (private, public, hybrid)
    • Cloud security strategy and architecture
    • Migrating workloads between cloud service models

EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of system management experience

CERTIFICATION: IAT Level II (e.g., CompTIA Security+)

CLEARANCE: All Contractor personnel shall possess, at the time of Task Order award, a current SECRET clearance based on a Tier 3 (T3)/Tier 3 Reinvestigation (T3R) completed within the last 10 years.

OTHER HIRING CONSIDERATIONS: Preference is given to candidates who reside in a Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) as determined by the Small Business Administration.
