Primary PurposeSupport the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store and throughout the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities- Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager, supervising all duties and responsibilities of Deli Bakery HMS Associates.
- Daily management of labor and coaching associates to achieve productivity expectations.
- Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Brand Strategy and Culture.
- Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
- Smile and maintain an enthusiastic customer service atmosphere, creating a positive shopping experience.
- Role model outstanding, friendly customer service; use product knowledge to offer solutions that meet or exceed customers' expectations.
- Control store expenses through proper ordering and care for supplies and equipment.
- Utilize company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, ordering (CAO), and business information systems.
- Perform duties that ensure department appearance, quality, variety, workplace safety, food safety, and sanitation are consistently maintained.
- Ensure Deli Bakery HMS schedules provide extraordinary customer service at all times; maintain schedules on a bi‑weekly basis.
- Ensure ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and displaying of merchandise adheres to policies and guidelines.
- Observe and correct unsafe conditions to prevent associate or customer accidents.
- Record and report all associate and customer accidents per Food Lion procedures.
- Monitor shrink, ensuring inventory is accounted for and coaching associates to reduce losses.
- Utilize advertising and sales promotion materials applicable to the Deli Bakery HMS.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Adhere to all company guidelines, policies, and standard practices.
- Maintain security standards.
- Maintain neat, well‑groomed personal appearance and comply with dress code guidelines.
- Successfully complete all required training courses (CBT, Training Packet, Training Aid).
- Meet all physical requirements with or without accommodation.
- Complete all other duties as assigned.
- High school graduate or equivalent (preferred).
- Ability to lead and manage a team.
- Strong understanding of store operations and merchandising techniques (preferred).
- Effective communication, customer service, and selling skills.
- Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
- Ability to use technical information to solve problems.
- Must meet Minimum age requirements for specific job functions.
- Certified Food Safety Manager (or earn accreditation within 90 days). Accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar organization.
- Use computers and other communication systems.
- Push or pull up to 2000 lbs using a pallet jack.
- Bend and lift products up to 15 lb. continuously, 25 lb. frequently, 50 lb. on occasion.
- Pull or push up to 75 lb. on occasion.
- Stand 100% of the time; walk short distances frequently.
- Handle cleaning and packaging materials and household cleaners.
- Perform repetitive hand and arm motions.
- Reach and grasp at waist level, occasionally above shoulder or below waist level.
- Meet volume activity standards for the position.
- Tolerate extreme hot/cold temperatures up to 20 min at a time.
- Maintain sufficient visual ability for checks, invoices, and other written documents.
