- Assist physicians treating patients for allergy testing and ongoing immunotherapy by directing allergy shot patient flow, obtaining and documenting necessary history and vital signs, performing assigned procedures, and providing patient education.
- Perform allergy testing, pulmonary function screening (if applicable), and assist with immunotherapy preparation according to established protocols.
- Administer allergy injections, monitor patients for reactions, and respond appropriately to adverse events, including following emergency procedures.
- Educate patients about allergy testing procedures, immunotherapy schedules, medication instructions, environmental control measures, proper use of epinephrine auto‑injectors, and follow‑up requirements.
- Adhere to infection prevention guidelines, medication safety standards, and emergency response protocols; ensure proper handling, labeling, and storage of allergy extracts and clinical materials.
- Assist with scheduling follow‑up visits, coordinating immunotherapy appointments, and managing patient flow to ensure timely and efficient clinic operations; maintain timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Completion of a program of instruction for licensure as an LPN and a valid VA LPN license.
- Completion of a CPR/BLS class and recertification every 2 years.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced clinical environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication, clinical assessment, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to travel within the local clinical area to other clinical locations when needed.
- Previous outpatient clinic work experience in allergy, otolaryngology (ENT), pulmonology, or primary care.
- Strong patient education experience.
- Familiarity with recognizing early signs of adverse reactions.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time.
- Knowledge of universal precautions and safe handling of biological materials.
- Ability to administer injections safely and accurately.
- Previous experience in allergy, immunology, or outpatient clinical care.
