Part‑Time Clinical Nursing Faculty – BSN Program, Roanoke, VA

We are seeking a part‑time clinical nursing faculty member to mentor students in an inpatient clinical setting located in the Virginia Beach, VA area, bridging classroom learning, simulations, and real‑world patient care.

Scheduling
  • Schedule is determined based on course need and clinical specialty for each 8‑week session.
  • Typical clinical instructor schedule: 2–3 consecutive 12‑hour shifts over a 1–2 week period per session.
  • Additional dates may not be available; clinical dates are not guaranteed for every session.
Adult Health (Medical‑Surgical) Nursing

Students will demonstrate nursing skills and procedures in an inpatient healthcare center. The course focuses on adult patients and their families, health promotion, and management of acute and chronic conditions. The nursing process is used to discuss health alterations affecting selected life processes. Students continue professional skill development as health team members.

Nurses with solid clinical experience and a completed MSN are encouraged to apply; teaching experience is not required.

Responsibilities
  • Implement the College’s philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching.
  • Assume responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching loads.
  • Plan clinical experiences, provide direct supervision, and evaluate nursing students in the delivery of care.
  • Be available to staff at the agencies.
  • Evaluate and provide documented feedback to students on performance based on course objectives.
  • Remediate students as required.
  • Maintain current knowledge of agency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Develop and post written clinical assignments aligned with student knowledge and learning needs.
  • Correct and return homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, clinical paperwork, and other written work timely.
  • Contribute to ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of the program and the College.
  • May teach didactic course content under supervision of the course coordinator.
  • Keep course coordinator informed of all student and agency issues and concerns.
  • Work with college administration, staff, and faculty to improve overall operation and student satisfaction.
  • Participate in the implementation of the College Assessment Program, campus retention efforts, and departmental and campus policies.
  • Serve as a professional role model in customer service, collaboration, communication, excellence, dress, attendance, and general professionalism.
  • Use relationship skills to solve group problems, build consensus, and negotiate win‑win outcomes.
  • Comply with all applicable regulatory rules and standards.
  • Report to the dean or assistant dean; a course coordinator may provide direct oversight.
  • Handle related duties as assigned.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • A master’s or doctoral degree in nursing from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • An unencumbered professional RN nursing license in Virginia.
  • Illinois RN license required to teach all courses (preferentially to those currently licensed in Illinois).
  • Active BLS certification (American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network).
  • At least two years of professional experience within the last five years in the area of instruction as a registered nurse.
Additional Information

In support of pay transparency laws, the expected compensation rate for this position ranges from $1,120 per assignment to $7,245 per assignment.
