Traveler RN - Cardiac Procedural/Surgical Intermediate Care
Sentara Heart Hospital located on the campus of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Procedural/Surgical Unit.
Overview: This 24‑bed cardiac surgical/procedural IMCU provides care to pre‑ and post‑cardiac surgery patients to include bypass surgery, cardiac valve repairs/replacements, thoracic surgery/lung diagnostics, and other cardiac based procedures and treatments such as ablations, left atrial appendages, ICDs, and permanent pacemakers. The unit also provides a high level of care to patients with cardiac arrhythmias, heart failure, and chest pain.
Work Shift: First (Days)
Compensation: $70/hr (Temporary Full‑Time Day Shift)
Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced nursing care to pre‑ and post‑cardiac surgery patients in an intermediate care setting.
- Administer medications, monitor physiologic parameters, and manage cardiac equipment.
- Respond to code situations and collaborate with multidisciplinary team.
- Educate patients and families regarding cardiac procedures and post‑discharge care.
Education: Associate, Bachelor, Master, or diploma in Nursing required.
Certification/Licensure:
- Virginia or Compact Multi‑State RN License in good standing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Experience: Must have 2 or more years of recent acute care hospital RN experience.
