Responsibilities
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner oversees the quality of care delivered to assigned patients with supervising psychiatrist. Performs medical assessments for individuals under his / her care. Completes documentation necessary to address patients hospitalized under civil commitment statutes. Provides individual therapy, family therapy and / or medication management as needed for patients. Appropriately requests consultation when indicated.
QualificationsMaster's degree or Post-Master's Degree in Nursing specializing in Psychiatric / Mental Health Nursing from an accredited college or university. Must be licensed in the state of Virginia and have prescriptive authority and a DEA license. A minimum of three (3) years' experience as a Certified Nurse Practitioner is preferred. Must be able to communicate effectively with other health care professionals, both verbally and in writing.
Prefer one (1) year experience working and / or treating adolescents.
