Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg / Hematology

Sentara is currently hiring an RN to work at Sentara Leigh Hospital located in Norfolk on the Med Surg/ Hematology Unit.

Hours/Shift: FLEXI (as needed), dayshift. Approximately 7am to 7pm.

Location: Norfolk, VA.

Department Overview: This state‑of‑the‑art 24‑bed unit cares for a wide variety of medical diagnoses including CHF, COPD, sepsis, pneumonia, diabetes, stroke, end‑of‑life care, and chronic blood disorders such as sickle cell. The RN will be responsible for wound vacs, high‑risk medication infusions, telemetry, trach care, chest tubes, peritoneal dialysis, and other procedures. Self‑scheduling is available.

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for a diverse caseload.
• Perform procedures such as wound vac insertion, high‑risk medication infusions, telemetry monitoring, trach care, chest tube management, and peritoneal dialysis.
• Provide education and support to patients and families.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team and maintain quality standards.
• Utilize self‑scheduling to manage shift coverage.

Minimum Requirements:

• Virginia or Compact Multi‑State RN license in good standing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• RN diploma, ASN, BSN, or MSN from an accredited school.

Nurse Residency & Transition to Practice: Sentara offers a 6‑month program for new graduates and RNs with less than 12 months of experience. Key components include:
