Position: Next Step to Success: Driver

Next Step to Success (NSTS) is an organization dedicated to supporting Norfolk youth ages 13–18. We provide after‑school and summer programming that includes academic support, enrichment activities, character education, field trips, and special events. Our mission is to help youth in Norfolk build the independent, resilient character they need to achieve success and lead fulfilling lives as adults. Our vision is to cut the poverty rate in Norfolk by one‑half over the next 10 years.

Join our mission‑driven team as an NSTS Driver
, where you’ll play a vital role in helping young people access the resources that strengthen resilience, independence, and long‑term success. By providing safe, dependable transportation and a supportive atmosphere, you’ll directly contribute to our broader goal of reducing local poverty and empowering youth to build brighter futures.

NSTS partners with The Barry Robinson Center to support youth and their families, ensuring they have the skills and preparation necessary to break the cycle of poverty. If you have a passion for working with youth and want to be part of a meaningful initiative, this role may be a great fit. While this position is primarily focused on transportation, the ideal candidate understands the importance of professionalism, consistency, and positive relationship‑building with young people.

Schedule: 5:30pm–7:30pm, Monday–Friday, with occasional weekends

Starting Pay: $15–$18 per hour, negotiable based on experience

Qualifications & Desired Qualities
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Previous experience working with children or families preferred
  • Approachable, flexible, and reliable team player
Responsibilities
  • Provide safe, reliable, and punctual transportation for youth from program sites to designated drop‑off locations
  • Demonstrate professionalism, clear communication, and youth‑centered service
  • Support team members with additional duties as needed
