Project Manager (Heavy Highway – Roadway/Bridge projects)

Overview

We are a general contractor with $2B in annual revenue and 3,800 employees. We seek a Project Manager for heavy highway – roadway/bridge projects in the Tidewater, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Newport News, Virginia Beach area.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of heavy highway/bridge construction projects.
  • Ensure project goals are accomplished within time and funding parameters by performing duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
  • Manage Project Engineers, Superintendents, and Foremen who supervise construction employees; be charged with overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the team.
  • Review the project proposals or plans to determine timeframe, funding limitations, procedures, staffing requirements, and resources for various phases.
  • Establish work plans and staffing for each phase; arrange for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
  • Confer with project staff to outline the work plan and assign duties, responsibilities, and authority.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure work progresses on schedule and within budget.
  • Review status reports from project personnel and modify schedules/plans as needed.
  • Prepare project reports for management, clients, or others.
  • Confer with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems.
  • Coordinate project activities with governmental agencies and subcontractors.
  • Understand and analyze CPM‑based project schedules.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervisory responsibilities, in accordance with policies and applicable laws, including interviewing/hiring; training; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding/disciplining; addressing complaints/resolving problems.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 10+ years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
