We are seeking immediate applicants for an AI/ML Engineer role that will support NATO’s Capability Development Directorate (CAPDEV) by designing, developing, and operationalizing advanced AI/ML models and analytics solutions across the capability lifecycle. The engineer will work within the CAPDEV Data and Analytics Office (DAO) to improve capability planning, readiness assessment, risk identification, reporting, and decision support. This role requires deep expertise in AI/ML engineering, cloud-based analytics, data processing automation, and responsible AI practices within secure and regulated environments.

• AI/ML Model Development:
  Design, train, validate, and deploy machine learning models for forecasting, readiness, risk, and decision support.
• Advanced Analytics Integration:
  Integrate AI/ML outputs into dashboards, analytics platforms, and reporting systems for operational use.
• Data Preparation & Feature Engineering:
  Create and maintain data pipelines and training datasets in collaboration with data engineering teams.
• Cloud AI/ML Engineering:
  Develop and deploy AI/ML systems in secure cloud environments using scalable architectures.
• Model Lifecycle Management:
  Implement validation, monitoring, retraining, and model versioning processes.
• Responsible AI Practices:
  Apply transparency, explain-ability, and bias mitigation techniques.
• Automation & Optimization:
  Automate analytical workflows and model processes to improve performance and reduce manual intervention.
• Prototyping & Experimentation:
  Build proof-of-concept models and explore emerging AI/ML technologies.
• Performance Optimization:
  Ensure AI/ML tools operate efficiently under operational workloads.
• Technical Documentation:
  Document models, data dependencies, assumptions, and integration requirements.
• Stakeholder Engagement:
  Translate operational requirements into AI/ML capabilities; explain outputs to varied audiences.
• Knowledge Transfer:
  Mentor and upskill DAO staff in AI/ML tools and practices.
• Security & Compliance:
  Ensure AI/ML solutions comply with NATO security and data-classification rules.
• Capability Lifecycle Support:
  Apply AI/ML to capability planning, monitoring, and performance analysis.
• Continuous Improvement:
  Enhance AI/ML tooling and methods in alignment with DAO goals.
• Technical Support:
  Provide ongoing support for models, pipelines, and analytical platforms.
• Additional Tasks:
  Perform additional duties as assigned by the COTR.

• Active U.S. Secret clearance required;
  Ability to obtain NATO Secret Read-On required
• 8+ years of progressive professional experience in data science, analytics, or machine learning engineering.
• Expertise in ML/statistical modeling for forecasting, risk, performance, or decision-support applications.
• Experience designing automated ETL/ELT workflows and feature engineering pipelines.
• Experience with cloud-based analytics and AI/ML platforms in secure environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, or related field.
• Experience integrating AI/ML solutions with enterprise analytics, dashboards, or reporting systems.
• Experience with model lifecycle management and production model optimization.
• Experience working within regulated environments with strict security and governance requirements.
• Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including analysts, engineers, and administrators.
• Ability to communicate complex AI/ML concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
