About the job:

Based in Norfolk, VA you will join the Agency as we embark on a journey to transform our IT services to support NATO’s Digital Endeavour. You will join NCIA Support Unit (CSU) Norfolk – a dual‑missioned unit supporting both the provision of CIS Services to CIS Joint Force Command – Norfolk, HQ SACT, and the provision of support and services to SACT’s capability development programme through a Transformational Support Branch.

The CIS Services provided enables end‑to‑end CIS services, installing, operating, maintaining and supporting the full range of CIS capabilities during peacetime, crisis and war throughout its allocated Area of Responsibility (AOR).

Responsibilities

Principal Network Technician

  • Participates in the implementation and maintenance of the underlying technology, software and hardware components that ensure the smooth functioning of switches, routers, firewalls, network systems, monitoring systems, crypto and security systems, enabling seamless secure data processing and systems reliability.
  • Troubleshoot issues, perform regular maintenance.
  • Collaborate with other cross‑functional ICT teams to address technical issues promptly, integrate emerging technologies, supporting the organization’s digital transformation goals and ensuring efficient, resilient, scalable, and secure digital infrastructure.
  • Establishes, monitors and conducts On‑The‑Job Training (OJT) to ensure all personnel are proficient in their duties.
  • Ensures compliance with cryptographic security standards.
  • Supervises the maintenance and installation of on‑line Crypto equipment.
  • Provides collaboration and assistance to other work sections within Service Operations Branch in support of mission requirements.
  • Supports physical task requirements with the ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

About you:

The valuable knowledge and experience that you bring to this role are:

Qualifications
  • Higher vocational training in a relevant discipline with 3 years post‑related experience. Or a secondary educational qualification with 5 years post‑related experience.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in the implementing, and managing the underlying technology, software and hardware WAN/LAN components that ensure the smooth functioning of switches, routers, firewalls, network systems, monitoring systems, crypto and security systems.
  • Practical experience troubleshooting infrastructure related issues, perform regular maintenance.
  • Adequate communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good analytical skills and solution‑oriented attitude.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
