Position: Information Systems Security Specialist / Commercial Broadband SATCOM

About the Role

We are seeking an Information Systems Security Specialist to provide technical and cybersecurity support for the Commercial Broadband Satellite Program (CBSP). This role involves sustainment engineering, modernization, and risk management for SATCOM systems supporting Navy operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Technical Sustainment Support (TSS), Sustainment Engineering (SE), Modernization Support (MS), Logistic Support (LS), and other SATCOM Technical Support Service for the CBSP: AN/USC 69(V)1,2,3 surface and shore; and crypto and modems associated with the preceding systems.
  • Provide CBSP Program of Record (POR) activities including PITCO, SOVT, PICO, Engineering/Field Changes, CASREP analysis (entries in ITSM), Technical Feedback Reports (TF ), and Engineering/Technical reviews.
  • Provide CONUS/OCONUS on-site technical assist visits and support to troubleshoot problems and resolve equipment issues; perform equipment testing to verify systems for full functionality; test, identify, and replace failed components; and provide technical support for existing system lab assets and sites.
  • Conduct Pre-Installation Test and Check Out (PITCO) Support Services.
  • Assist with Pre-Installation Check Off (PICO) prior to installation.
  • Provide onsite support for software installation and system turnover processes including pre-installation production/assembly and testing of systems, staging, and shipping of installation materials, on-site installation, and System Operational Verification Testing (SOVT), training, and operational cutover.
  • Provide the status of assigned tasks via prepared and ad hoc oral briefings to senior Navy personnel. Develop written instructions, procedures, schematics and other technical data deliverables and documentation, as applicable.
  • Conduct Risk Management Framework (RMF) Workflow Assessments, including Security Assessment Reports (SARs) and POAMs, for specified projects (NSLCA, CBSP, STtNG, CSat Shore).
  • Attend routine meetings to brief and represent NWIC LANT on specified equipment security standards/baseline.
  • Create Mandatory Security Updates (MSUs) monthly or as specified for Fleet services.
  • Maintain specified projects’ critical security updates/patches for equipment (e.g., Windows computers, Cisco routers, and servers).
  • Provide technical expertise for development or implementation of controls.
Required Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED

  • Must meet latest DoD Cybersecurity certification/training per DoD 8570.1M and DoD 8140

Experience:

  • 3+ years in Cybersecurity, Engineering, Test & Evaluation (T&E), or Assessment & Authorization (A&A)/Certification & Accreditation (C&A)
  • Working knowledge of RMF; prior DIACAP experience preferred
  • Familiarity with IA tools: eMASS, ACAS; may require Interim Security Control Assessor qualification
  • Knowledge of security policies and compliance documentation for ATO requirements
  • Ability to evaluate security solutions for classified information and maintain operational security posture

Specialized

Experience:

  • 3+ years with CBSP Ship/Shore network architecture and software configuration
  • Configure and implement CSaT
  • Develop and enforce cybersecurity policy, including A&A requirements
  • Plan, implement, upgrade, and monitor cybersecurity measures to maintain cyber resilience
