Senior Network Routing Design Engineer
Location: Norfolk, VA

OverviewAssist the Government Lead in daily engineering duties on systems. Perform LAN/BAN/WAN administration, scheduling conversions and cutovers. Evaluate and design communication hardware/software, troubleshoot network issues. Conduct capacity and demand management per USMC Circuit Management processes. Support traffic analysis and shaping, optimize directory services replication, design web access capabilities, caching, proxy controls, and identity access management. Develop IP address management and routing (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, VRF), security (MPLS, ACL, IPSEC, L2 VPN), and anti‑malware inspection solutions.
Integrate PKI certificates for two‑factor authentication and enable multivendor solutions across Cisco, Juniper, Brocade.
- Assist the Government Lead in daily system engineering duties.
- Administer LAN/BAN/WAN, schedule conversions and cutovers.
- Design/implement communication hardware and software; troubleshoot network problems.
- Perform capacity and demand management aligned with USMC processes.
- Support traffic analysis, shaping design plans.
- Monitor and optimize directory services replication.
- Design internal/external web access solutions via HTTP/HTTPS.
- Configure caching and proxy controls, including automated category filtering.
- Develop and integrate identity and access management requirements; monitor security updates.
- Manage IP scheme and address planning.
- Design/implement network routing (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, VRF) and security (MPLS, ACL, IPSEC, L2 VPN).
- Deploy anti‑malware, HTTP/HTTPS inspection solutions.
- Integrate PKI certificates for two‑factor authentication across AD domains.
- Integrate multivendor solutions (Cisco, Juniper, Brocade, etc.).
- Test and configure complex large‑scale computer networks.
- Support Navy/Marine Corps, DISA, and Joint interoperability implementations.
- Implement DNS, DHCP, and URL filtering solutions.
- 10+ years of experience in network design, administration, and security.
- Experience with LAN/BAN/WAN, capacity/demand management, traffic shaping, and directory services.
- Proficient in routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF) and advanced network security technologies (MPLS, ACL, IPSEC, L2 VPN).
- Hands‑on experience with PKI, two‑factor authentication, and AD integration.
- Expertise in DNS, DHCP, and URL filtering.
- ITIL v3 Foundation certification.
- Professional certifications: CCNP Service Provider, JNCIP, or equivalent.
