The Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for delivery of end-to-end application, system development and maintenance on complex multi technology platform. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in cloud infrastructure, networking, automation, and operations, and a passion for building resilient, scalable, and efficient cloud environments.
How You Will Make An Impact- Collaborate with product managers, security teams, and other stakeholders to define infrastructure and platform requirements and delivery timelines.
- Develop and review infrastructure code, enforce best practices, and ensure compliance with security standards.
- Support sprint planning, task allocation, and operational performance tracking.
- Create and update Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, Ansible, Packer, Python, and cloud-native automations.
- Automate management of cloud networks (VPC/VNet), Transit Gateways, DNS, Onpremise Connections, Load balancers, Web Application Firewall (WAF) configurations, certificates, and automations for web applications.
- Automate management of cloud security controls - NSGs, IAM roles, policies, etc. to comply with Elevance Health standards.
- Lead disaster recovery designs and automations for cloud deployed components.
- Lead ITIL processes – incident, request, change management and coordinate with other teams as necessary.
- Maintain active relationships with customers to determine business requirements and lead requirements gathering meetings.
- Own the change request process and coordinate with other teams as necessary.
- Provide technical advice and weigh in on technical decisions that impact cross‑functional teams.
- Develop and own a list of final enhancements.
- Define application scope and objectives and prepare technical and/or functional specifications from which programs will be written.
- Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and cost‑effective cloud solutions.
- Own technical testing to ensure unit tests are completed and meet the test plan requirements, system testing is completed, and the system is implemented according to plan.
- Assess status and support data information planning.
- Coordinate on‑call support and ensure effective monitoring of the system.
- Set direction at the project/service level and influence decision‑making.
- Understand trade‑offs between technical, analytical, and product needs of technical solutions.
- Identify and propose strategies around technical problems affecting the team, communicate standards, and gain buy‑in on solutions.
- Facilitate group sessions to elicit complex information on requirements clarification, design sessions, code reviews, and troubleshooting issues. Support vendor evaluation.
Requires a BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field of study and a minimum of 5 years related experience; multi‑dimensional platform experience; expert‑level experience with business and technical applications, or any combination of education and experience that would provide an equivalent background.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities & Experiences- Multi‑database and/or multi‑language strongly preferred.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers, leading multiple small projects, and providing troubleshooting support.
- 5 years of experience in cloud engineering, networking or operations, with at least 2 years in a senior role.
