Cardiology Systems Administrator
Overview
The Cardiology Systems Administrator manages and supports cardiovascular imaging and information systems to ensure reliable performance and clinical efficiency. The role safeguards the integrity, availability, and security of cardiology‑specific technologies essential to patient diagnosis and care, serves as a technical expert and liaison between clinical teams, IT, and vendors, and ensures systems meet operational and regulatory requirements, optimize workflows, troubleshoot issues, and implement upgrades to enhance system functionality.
The administrator reports to departmental leadership.
- Administer and maintain mission‑critical cardiology imaging and diagnostic systems to ensure optimal performance, uptime, and data integrity.
- Provide daily technical support to clinical users, resolving system issues and ensuring smooth workflow across departments.
- Coordinate system upgrades, patches, and configuration changes in collaboration with IS and vendors to maintain compliance and functionality.
- Manage user access and security settings, ensuring HIPAA compliance and safeguarding patient data.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps to support internal operations and future maintenance.
- Collaborate with organizational leadership and vendors to evaluate new technologies and recommend system enhancements.
- Provide training and support to end users including cardiologists, nurses, and technologists.
- Participate in on‑call rotation and provide after‑hours support as needed.

- Certified Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP) preferred
- PACS Administration Training vendor‑specific certifications (e.g., GE, Philips, Siemens) for cardiology PACS or CVIS systems preferred
- CompTIA Network+, Security+, or A+ preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Health Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3‑5 years of experience supporting healthcare IT systems, preferably in cardiology or radiology environments.
- Experience in system administration, troubleshooting, and upgrades in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Strong proficiency in cardiovascular imaging systems and their integration with EHR platforms.
- Technical aptitude in system administration, including Windows Server and virtual environments.
- Knowledge of healthcare IT standards and regulations, such as HIPAA, HL7, and DICOM.
- Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for resolving system and workflow issues.
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities to work with clinical staff, IT teams, and vendors.
- Project management and documentation skills to support upgrades, implementations, and compliance audits.
Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature, and the like, with the exception of visits to the computer room.
