RN-Staff Education Coordinator

Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters – Norfolk, VA

Full‑time, Entry level

Summary
  • The Education Coordinator functions as an advanced clinical role to provide care and education to staff, patients, families, and the community. Instrumental in design, coordination, education, evaluation, and implementation of programs related to the patient care process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Instructs, maintains and ensures appropriate documentation for learning episodes or educational processes.
  • Assists in the orientation and education program for staff.
  • Continuously evaluates and modifies educational processes to meet organizational needs.
  • Utilizes principles of adult learning, cultural diversity and individual learning styles in planning educational opportunities.
  • Plans, provides and monitors individualized nursing care in response to specific patient needs within a defined scope of practice.
  • Provides developmentally appropriate psychosocial and clinical care to assigned patient population.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Licenses and/or Certifications
  • Current Virginia state license as a Registered Nurse or valid Compact State license.
  • RN certification preferred.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, or actively enrolled in a Bachelor’s program with graduation within three years (BSN preferred).
  • 6-12 months relevant clinical experience.
  • Pediatric experience preferred.
  • CPR Training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
Working Conditions
  • Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperature. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to certain patient care activities can be expected.
