Job Summary
We are looking for Support Workers with a passion for Positive Behaviour Support and enabling people with Learning Disabilities and autism to gain independence, develop independent living skills, gain employment or work skills or to engage in fun social activities. We have contracts available for 8 - 40 hours a week working as part of an established and supportive team based in Dereham but supporting people in Norwich, Dereham, Swaffham, Thetford and surrounding areas.
There will be opportunities to grow and develop working with Mid Norfolk Mencap as we further develop our community services. You bring the great values and we will provide all the necessary training.
Responsibilities
- Support individuals with Learning Disabilities and Autism through Positive Behaviour Support techniques and specialised care strategies
- Work in a person centred way to enable individuals to achieve their goals which may be around independent living skills, skills for employment, social activities etc
- Provide emotional support and companionship to clients, fostering a positive atmosphere
- Drive clients to appointments or social activities as required
- Respond promptly to emergencies using first aid skills when necessary
- Administer medication following prescribed instructions and maintain accurate records
Requirements
- Prior experience in working with people with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism
- Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support
- Excellent communication skills with a caring and empathetic approach
- Driving licence and access to own car with business insurance
- Positive attitude and ability to problem solve, adapting quickly to change where needed
- A genuine passion for caregiving and supporting vulnerable individuals
