An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Physiotherapist on a fixed term/secondment basis covering maternity leave until February 2027. The post holder will work within a dynamic stroke interdisciplinary Early Supported Discharge team in central Norfolk.
We are seeking a motivated and flexible Physiotherapist who enjoys working as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team. You will be well supported by our experienced and highly skilled team of therapists and nurses.
Main duties of the job- Provide high quality specialist rehabilitation to patients following a stroke in their own home/communities to allow patients to achieve their optimal level of independence and maximum rehabilitation potential.
- Work collaboratively across the Central Norfolk Integrated Stroke Service to ensure a seamless provision of stroke services across the acute hospital, inpatient rehabilitation and early supported discharge teams.
- Work autonomously, carrying out the assessment, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based specialist treatment programs for patients following a stroke, who may have a range of impairments and complex health needs.
- Supervise and support junior staff and students.
- Contribute to service development and data collection within Central Norfolk Integrated Stroke Services.

Job responsibilities- Work as an autonomous practitioner to manage a significant specialist clinical caseload using neurological skills.
- Complete comprehensive patient assessments, and make appropriate clinical decisions following assessment, using evidence-based practice and outcome measures to provide most effective treatment.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, putting patient care and the patient experience first.
- Actively participate in service development and contribute to monitoring of standards of practice, and take personal responsibility in your professional development and professional registration requirements.
- Show passion for providing a high level of care and safeguarding to patients known to our service.
- Have the ability to use initiative, communicate with empathy and be an effective team player.
- Participate in the development of physiotherapists, support staff within clinical speciality through training, competencies and supervision.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary team teaching.
- There is a requirement to part of the weekend working rota.
- It is essential that you hold a full UK driving license. Regular driving across Central Norfolk will be required.
- The team provides regular peer support and learning opportunities.
- BSc /Diploma in Physiotherapy (3yr) or MSc Physiotherapy (2
Yr) - Current HCPC Registration
- Clinical Educators Course
- Evidence of attendance at specialist stroke or neurological courses
- Evidence of post registration education
- Experience working with stroke/ neurology patients
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Experience of developing clinical staff
- Experience of participating in research and audit projects
- On call or weekend experience.
- Demonstrate good clinical reasoning problem-solving ability
- Ability to prioritise workload organising and delegating effectively.
- Evidence of own development through PDP
- Ability to supervise and support junior staff/untrained staff.
- Knowledge of current developments in stroke/ neurological care e.g. national guidelines for stroke, relevant standards and outcome measures.
- Provides high standards of care.
- Good observational and reporting skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Work flexibly to accommodate patient/ service needs.
- Ability to participate in research and/ or audit within the service.
- Use of IT and Computer skills.
- Evidence of attendance at specialist stroke or neurological courses.
- Member of specialist interest group.
- Demonstrate tact and diplomacy through effective communication.
- The ability to deal with distressing and emotionally difficult situations.
- The ability to deliver difficult messages in a considered and sensitive manner.
- Experience of using alternative communication strategies for patients with stroke/ neurological disorder.
- Experience of delivering training to both own and other disciplines.
- Ability to supervise and support junior staff/untrained staff.
- Willing to take on new challenges and responsibilities.
- Able to identify with the Trust's commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults.
