Summary
The Perioperative Business Manager reports to the Director of Perioperative Services and is responsible for managing effective business operations within the division. This position works closely with all members of the interdisciplinary team of nursing, surgery, cardiac surgery, anesthesiology, and sterile processing to develop systems, processes and plans to improve service profitability and operational efficiency. Provides leadership to ensure success in analyzing and monitoring internal and external environment effecting the department, investigating and clarifying new opportunities and monitoring the use of resources and financial performance.
Serves as a resource to the perioperative management team by developing reports that measure key performance indicators related to operations, strategic and financial planning.
- Assists in the preparation of annual budget development for all areas of Perioperative Services.
- Develop, monitor and control the purchasing plan to stay within the proposed budgets for each department.
- Develop, monitor and control staffing needs, operations budget and capital budget planning.
- Coordinates the surgery and SPD inventory management systems to reduce inventory cost while eliminating lost charges.
- Demonstrates the ability to identify problems and implement solutions for operational and organizational functions.
- Develop dashboards to display operational initiatives that lead to data driven decision‑making and strategic planning.
- Lead discussion/presentation during monthly Surgical Authorities Committee, Value Analysis Committee and other meetings relative to Perioperative Services as requested by leadership.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to direct and delegate surgery charge capture and surgical scheduling staff.
- Serves as a key administrator for surgical information systems.
- Serving, along with any committee appointed for the purpose, as a liaison between Surgical Medical Staff and all departments of the facility.

- Bachelor’s degree in one of the health professions, business administration, public administration or other suitable field.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Power Point, Visio, Project and other healthcare electronic systems.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in business, contract negotiations, purchasing, and data analytics related to budgeting and finance.
- Must possess exceptional leadership, interpersonal, written and verbal communication with people of all levels of the organization.
- Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
