Tax Preparer

Description We are looking for an experienced Tax Preparer to join our team on a contract basis in Norfolk, Virginia. In this role, you will handle a variety of tax-related tasks, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and providing accurate and timely tax preparation services. This position requires strong attention to detail and collaboration with external partners to meet deadlines and achieve organizational goals.

Responsibilities:

- Collect and analyze data to prepare direct and indirect tax returns, including extensions and quarterly estimates.

- Develop work papers for submission to external partners responsible for preparing tax returns.

- Calculate the annual tonnage tax and ensure accurate reporting.

- Compile information for intercompany transactions and complete Forms 5472.

- Draft quarterly income tax provisions, including reconciliation schedules, M-3 adjustments, and credit carry forward calculations.

- Monitor and update tax exposure roll-forwards and conduct quarterly interest calculations on tax exposures.

- Collaborate with co-sourcing partners to address inquiries and resolve issues during tax return preparation.

- Review all tax returns and supporting schedules before submission to ensure accuracy and compliance.

- Ensure timely filing of tax returns and payments while addressing any necessary tax research.

- Stay informed about tax regulations and apply them effectively in all prepared materials. Requirements - Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax preparation and compliance.

- Proficiency in preparing corporate tax returns and related schedules.

- Strong knowledge of intercompany transaction reporting and Forms 5472.

- Experience with quarterly and annual tax provisions, including reconciliations and adjustments.

- Ability to research and interpret tax regulations to resolve complex issues.

- Excellent organizational and communication skills to collaborate with external partners.

- Attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing and preparing tax documentation.

- Familiarity with corporate tax compliance processes and regulations.
