Business Analyst (Management Analyst III)
Join Nauticus as a Business Analyst (Management Analyst III) to lead financial planning, budgeting, and data analysis for the museum and maritime programs.
Essential Functions- Develop, manage, and analyze budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
- Monitor budget performance and perform variance analysis against actuals.
- Analyze large datasets to identify cost trends, risks, and savings opportunities.
- Consult with senior departmental managers and provide advice on budget and departmental goals, and coordinate interdepartmental program elements with citywide goals.
- Participate in the budget process by compiling cost information and ensuring accuracy, providing management reports and cost reconciliation.
- Attend city budget meetings with leadership and present materials to disseminate program and policy information.
- Assist management by producing special research reports, acting as liaison, and coordinating various projects.
- Review daily expenses for accuracy and proper budget line coding.
- Review semi‑monthly operating budget and ensure department stays within fiscal parameters set by budget office.
- Partner with procurement office to requisition necessary contracts and purchase orders and ensure compliance with city spending policies.
- Track ongoing CIP projects to ensure financial success and timely completion.
- Oversee receipt of city revenues and deposit revenues with city treasurer.
- Provide analysis on campus programs and recommend ways to streamline processes and increase efficiency.
- Provide forecast for future revenues and expenses.
- Invoice vendors for goods and services monthly.
- Recommend ways to collaborate with outside departments for the benefit of the city and Nauticus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Four years’ experience in data analysis or related field (or equivalent).
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst, Financial Analyst, or similar data‑focused role.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical and quantitative problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

One Waterside Drive, Norfolk, VA 23510. Salary range: $62,732.78 – $71,987.31.
