Description

Please note that this position is contingent upon the successful award of a contract currently under bid. The Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) – Level I is responsible for performing inspections, calibrations, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of medical and non-medical support equipment, including but not limited to medical package tools, generators, and environmental control units. The BMET I ensures all work is conducted in compliance with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) guidance, DoD instructions, applicable regulations, and unit directives.

This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and adherence to established procedures to maintain equipment reliability and operational readiness.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Must follow original equipment manufacturer guidance, AFI, regulations and unit direction.
  • Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and calibration of biomedical equipment to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and safety regulations.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions in medical devices, performing necessary repairs or coordinating with vendors for service when required.
  • Maintain detailed service records, documenting repairs, maintenance actions, and performance evaluations.
  • Assist in the installation and configuration of new biomedical equipment, ensuring proper functionality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Travel

10% to 25% Travel is required.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have graduated from the DoD Biomedical Maintenance Course, an accredited civilian Biomedical Maintenance Course, or the Planmecca digital dental course.
  • Minimum 2 years of field experience in performing initial inspections, calibrations, diagnostics, general maintenance, and repair of medical equipment within Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) guidance.
  • Associate or bachelor degree in a related field, preferred.
  • Must provide documentation of eligibility to legally work in the United States without an employer sponsored visa.
  • Must be able to pass client background screening for security clearance.

$29.6 per hour

Work Environment
  • Work environment conditions may occasionally include exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, vibration, and risk of radiation.
  • Regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock and frequently exposed to working near moving mechanical parts.
  • The work environment noise level is usually moderate.
Physical Demands
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance, taste, or smell.
  • Regularly required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands or fingers, handle or feel, talk, or hear.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 10-25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include color vision.
