Job Brief: Machinist's Mate/Engineman/ Gas Turbine Equipment Specialists!!! MUST have working knowledge with the Navy's 3M system at-sea on surface ships. (5550) GVI, Inc, a subsidiary of Three Saints Bay, LLC and a Federal Government Contractor industry leader is searching for an experienced Navy
Mechanic (MM/EN/GS) to support the Planned Maintenance System Project managing Engineer Department Systems with smal boat experience. Thorough knowledge of operating, repairing and maintaining installed Hull, Mechanical or Electrical equipment on U.S. Navy Warships is required. The Navy Rate skill set that is best suited for this position is:
Machinist's Mate, Gas Turbine Mechanic, or Engineman. Must have a Navy Engineering Rate to be considered with a variety of experience both inside and outside the engineering spaces or other Navy technical rates with experience performing or managing maintenance on related systems aboard Navy vessels. Typical Fit for Duties Performed while on Active Duty: 3M Coordinator, Department 3M Assistant, Leading Petty Officer, Work Center Supervisor, ATG/TYCOM experience desired but not required.

Knowledge

Requirements
  • Background and experience in dealing with U.S. Navy Fleet and Shore Activities regarding the maintenance and repair of shipboard and shore-based equipment systems, commodity classes, and subsystems to include: an understanding of U.S. Navy organization levels and ship and submarine maintenance and repair policy, procedures, and practices; familiarity with basic technical and administrative policies, procedures, and practices associated with the Navy Maintenance and Material Management (3-M) System and the Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
  • Knowledge of engineering and scientific principles and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical manuals as they pertain to the maintenance and repair of shipboard and shore-based Navy equipment systems, commodity classes, and subsystems.
  • Ability to communicate orally, and in writing with a variety of internal personnel and numerous contractors and representatives of other organizations on wide-ranging, controversial, sensitive, and serious equipment problems for assigned complete equipment systems, commodity classes, or subsystems that may require broad corrective action.
  • Computer literate with advanced digital literacy skills. Broad knowledge of how to use the machine to accomplish goals with the ability to use information and communication technologies to find, evaluate, create, and communicate information, requiring both cognitive and technical skills.
  • Ability to independently research and problem-solve using digital technology
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience using digital tools and software to facilitate collaboration
  • The ability to adapt very quickly to new technology
Specialized Knowledge
  • Experience in small boat systems and equipment maintenance
  • Diesel engines, outboard engines, outdrives, water jets
  • Experience operating and maintaining shipboard main propulsion/support systems
  • reduction gears, generators, pumps, purifiers, piping and valves
  • Experience in operating and maintaining shipboard auxiliary systems and hotel services
  • Steering systems, drainage and ballasting, air conditioning, refrigeration, distilling plants, air compressors, O2N2 plants
  • Previous rating of EN, MM, or GS
  • 3MC, prior repair facility experience
  • E6 or above, qualified and experienced Senior In-Rate watch stander
  • LPO and/or LCPO and WCS experience of 5+ yrs each
  • SKED experience

Ability to apply technical knowledge and expertise to solve fleet identified problems with planned maintenance procedures.

Position Requirements
  • US Citizen.
  • Must currently possess an Active Secret Clearance.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years of related experience.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment.
  • Valid US Driver's License.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
