PGS Worldwide is seeking a Supply Chain Deck Plate Coordinator in Norfolk, VA for a 1‑year contract‑to‑hire role working a standard full‑time schedule. This on‑site position supports a major aerospace & defense company performing modernization, conversions, and overhaul of government and commercial ships. The SCC will oversee material execution and subcontractor performance on the deck plates, ensuring contract compliance, production alignment, and schedule discipline across ship repair activities.
This role requires direct U.S. Navy shipboard experience and the ability to access and walk down ships (including climbing ladders) to coordinate work with subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
- 5+ years of ship repair environment experience
- Direct U.S. Navy shipboard experience with strong knowledge of ship repair and production processes
- Ability to access ships, climb ladders, and conduct shipboard walkthroughs and ship checks
- Scheduling and production experience supporting ship repair/overhaul work scopes
- Strong understanding of NAVSEA, USCG, ABS, and OSHA requirements and shipyard best practices
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel required) and ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment
- Strong project coordination and leadership skills, including managing cross‑functional execution
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across estimating, QA/testing, environmental, production support, and program teams
- Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM) concepts and performance metrics (SPI, CPI, Client)
- Experience coordinating subcontract documentation and execution to FAR/DFARS and NAVSEA or commercial maritime regulations
- Experience preparing executive‑level program status reports and variance analysis
- Prior experience resolving subcontractor performance issues in production environments
- Coordinate deck‑plate execution for materials and subcontractors supporting ship modernization and overhaul programs
- Communicate contract requirements, specifications, and customer expectations to internal teams and subcontractors
- Ensure contract execution complies with safety and environmental requirements at the local, state, and federal level
- Monitor subcontractor performance against integrated project plans, detailed schedules, and budget objectives
- Conduct ship checks and shipboard walkthroughs to verify progress, validate work scope, and resolve constraints
- Build and support production schedules and Client projections; ensure subcontractors understand milestones and target dates
- Prepare and deliver project status reports to leadership, highlighting variances and items requiring immediate attention
- Coordinate with Supply Chain Program Management, procurement/subcontract administrators, and subcontractors to align performance expectations and documentation
- Resolve production and subcontractor issues that cannot be addressed by craft supervision, escalating appropriately when needed
