Position: Electronics Security Technician

Location: Norfolk, VA

Pay Range: $70,000 - $120,000 per year

Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate need for a Subject Matter Expert in Electronic Security to provide key support for Department of Defense (DoD), Department of State (DoS) and other US Federal Government Electronic Security Systems. This job is located in Norfolk, Virginia.

• Designing, installing and commissioning Electronic Security Systems to DoD and DoS specific guideline and requirements.
• Reviewing and interpreting Request for Proposal (RFP) / Performance Work Statement (PWS) documentation to support the development of cost estimates to include system design, Bill of Material (BOM) and project execution.
• Developing Electronic Security System (ESS) documentation, including survey reports, drawing packages, test plans and procedures, and training documents.
• Reading and interpreting customer requirements and developing responses to requests for proposals and quotes.
• Developing, reading and interpreting electrical, electronic, and system schematics, technical data packages and installation design plans.
• Developing, reading and interpreting system test plans and procedures.
• Serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on security engineering needs and requirements regarding system performance, installations, and maintenance programs.
• Providing recommended improvements to existing systems and designs using industry best practices.
• Performing installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and testing of security wiring & power circuits.
• Training technicians and end users.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Technical training in an Electronic Security Systems Engineering Field.
• At least 8 years of hands‑on experience with Communications, Cryptographic and related C4
  
  ISR, including three (3) of the following four (4) areas:
  Systems Requirements, Operational Requirements, Test & Evaluation, and Training.
• Recognized expert with demonstrated industry and public service leadership in Security Systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as electrical engineering or computer science, or a graduate of military basic and advanced electronic or communication technician school. (An associate’s degree or military technical school with additional years of experience can be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.)
• Knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) and practices such as grounding and electrical safety.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or other Computer Aided Design applications.
• At least 3 years of experience as a technician with installation or maintenance of electronics/electrical systems including:
  • Intrusion Detection Systems
  • Access Control Systems
  • Closed Circuit Television
  • Intercom Systems
  • Mass Notification Systems
  • IP Network Infrastructure
  • Conduit Installation
  • Low Voltage Electrical Systems

• Knowledge of TCP/IP Network Systems and Topology.
• Manufacturer's certification or technical training (Lenel, Milestone, Security+, CISSP).
• Current Passport.

• Eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD “Secret” security clearance with the possibility to upgrade to “Top Secret.”
• US Citizen with a valid Driver’s License.

• Between 10% - 90% Travel, international and domestic, depending on program requirements.
• If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain cybersecurity credentials such as REAL  start of position.

• Ability to reach, climb, stoop, and kneel up to 75% of the time.
• Repetitive motion, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, and visual acuity.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to move between work sites and communicate with others effectively.
• Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
