Part‑Time Evening Instructor with a $2500 Sign‑On Bonus

Location: 4535 E Princess Anne Rd, Norfolk, VA 23502

Work Schedule - Please note that the final schedule is determined by the needs of the campus

• Evening Shift: Monday‑Thursday 4:00pm‑10:30pm (Fri/Sat/Sun off)

Compensation: Up to $28 per hour and $2500 Sign‑on Bonus

Responsibilities

• Teach classes on a regularly scheduled basis as assigned
• Assist the program coordinator in maintaining any equipment used by the students
• Assist the program coordinator in developing curriculum, preparing course materials, and scheduling
• Establish and maintain academic and attendance records for student files
• Perform other tasks that may be assigned by the program coordinator
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom or lab
• Submit attendance, grades, student evaluations, and all other required reports/documentation to the program coordinator per established procedures
• Notify program coordinator of any current or potential problems that warrant attention
• Actively utilize proven retention techniques approved by the school
• Complete performance‑based teacher education modules as assigned by program coordinator or as needed based on outcomes of classroom observations, instructor evaluations, and student completed surveys
• Attend in‑service training seminars as required
• Alert program coordinator on the first day a student is absent, and in writing of a student’s third and fifth absences
• On a daily basis, monitor and record attendance of all new students during the first three weeks of their first module and report attendance to program coordinator
• Any other duties, tasks, or projects that may be assigned by the Program Coordinator, Director of Education, or School Director.

Education / Experience / Skills

• High School Diploma or GED
• At least 3 years of practical, work‑related experience
• Current ASE certification in G1, A6, and in the automobile area(s) (A1‑A5, A7‑A8) the instructor teaches; instructors teaching Engine Performance must also hold ASE certification in L1 – Advanced Engine Performance
• Comply with personal and environmental safety practices associated with clothing, eye protection, hand tools, power equipment, proper ventilation, and handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals/materials in accordance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations
• Professional image and conduct
• Provide documentation of each diploma earned and copy of ASE Certification
• Effective communication with staff, faculty, and students
• Complete a minimum of 20 hours of technical update training each year
• Work well under pressure and possess strong attention to detail and excellent computer skills
• Ability and willingness to work split schedule to teach morning and evening classes

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• ASE Certification preferred, but not required.
