Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An opportunity is available for a full-time Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing to support K-5 students within a Virginia Beach area school district. This contract position runs from ASAP through June 16, 2026, with a caseload of 8 students located at the district center.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in grades K-5
- Develop and implement individualized education plans tailored to each student's needs
- Collaborate with school staff, families, and related service providers to promote student success
- Monitor student progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly
Qualifications:
- Active Virginia Department of Education teaching certification in Deaf / Hard of Hearing education required
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably K-5 grade level
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, families, and staff
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
