Job Duties

Norfolk State University invites candidates for a full‑time, tenure‑track position as Assistant/Associate Professor of Graphic Design/New Media/Web Design and UX/UI within the Department of Visual and Performing Arts, Division of Fine Arts. The start date is spring 2026 or fall 2026. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Graphic Design, New Media, Web Design, and UX/UI, and contribute to a growing Visual Studies Program.

Applications must be submitted by November 30 2025; the position remains open until filled.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum MFA in graphic design, new media, web design, or related field.
  • At least two (2) years of teaching experience at a comprehensive four‑year college or university.

    Additional Considerations
    • Proficiency on Mac and PC platforms.
    • Experience managing a graphic design laboratory with large‑format printers and digital media tools.
    • Evidence of active research and peer‑reviewed publication in the applicant’s field.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of working with a diverse student population.
    • Evidence of continuing professional engagement in graphic design.
