The Department of Engineering Management & Systems Engineering (EMSE) at Old Dominion University invites applicants for a Lecturer that will contribute to the growth and development of current graduate programs beginning July 25, 2025. This is a 10-month annual appointment with opportunities for summer teaching.

Responsibilities
  • Participation in planning and developing new graduate-level courses.
  • Teaching new graduate-level courses.
  • Collecting and analyzing data related to programmatic needs and outcomes.
  • Help coordinate some of the department's degree programming and curriculum development.
  • Mentoring or advising master's and doctoral students.
Qualifications

Minimum required education: A Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Engineering Management, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related discipline. ABD candidates expected to complete the degree prior to employment may be considered.

Minimum required experience:

  • Experience teaching Systems Engineering, Engineering Management, Industrial Engineering, or related courses in an academic setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in areas such as risk analysis, operations research, operations management, systems analysis and design, or related areas in the Engineering Management Body of Knowledge.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Course development and delivery experience in online settings.
    • Teaching portfolio that maps with the department areas of need, with evidence of teaching success.
    • Publications in journal(s) and conference proceeding(s) in areas of relevance to the department.
    • Familiarity and capability to teach in online settings both synchronously and asynchronously.
    • A commitment to service, and contributions to relevant academic and professional groups.
    • Instructional design expertise.
