Old Dominion University (ODU) invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor, ten-month faculty appointment in the Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) Program within the School of Rehabilitation Sciences in the Ellmer College of Health Sciences. We are seeking innovative and collaborative educator-scholars who are passionate about advancing occupational therapy education, scholarship, and service.
At ODU, the OTD program emphasizes an occupation-centered curriculum designed to prepare practice scholars and leaders who will shape the future of the profession. The program uses active and engaged learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom into the Hampton Roads community, with partnerships across community organizations, health systems, and interdisciplinary colleagues.
The school features state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities with simulation, collaboration, and practice. The interdisciplinary rehabilitation clinic serves as a living laboratory for teaching, practice, and research, aligned with ODU’s commitment to interprofessional education.
The admissions process is holistic, and the faculty and community partners aim to foster excellence and belonging. Graduates emerge with clinical expertise and a pathway to leadership, scholarship, and service in occupational therapy. The position is located in Norfolk, Virginia.

Minimum qualifications- Active member of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
- Familiarity with ACOTE accreditation standards.
- Experience with occupational therapy education, curriculum design, and program evaluation.
- Experience teaching entry-level occupational therapy content.
- Experience mentoring graduate student research or capstone projects.
- Record of scholarly publications and/or impactful clinical research.
All final candidates will be required to successfully pass a criminal background check prior to beginning employment.
