Required Skills:

Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution

Active medical license to practice in Virginia

Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine

Proven experience in general medicine, primary care, or related fields

Strong interviewing and physical assessment skills

Ability to perform Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Attention to detail and thorough documentation

Nice to Have

Skills:

Experience with VA or government healthcare programs

Prior experience performing compensation and pension evaluations

Familiarity with medical exam documentation and report submission

Additional certifications relevant to VA healthcare services

Preferred

Education and Experience:

MD or DO degree from an accredited university

Minimum of 2 years clinical practice in primary care or general medicine

Experience in a VA or federal healthcare setting is advantageous but not required

Other Requirements:

Own a private office location (must have own practice setup)

Willingness to perform exams across multiple VA locations in Virginia, including Coeburn, Covington, Hillsville, and Charlottesville

Availability to work on a PRN basis, with flexibility for half-day or full-day assignments starting February 2, 2026

Ability to perform non-treatment exams primarily based on interviews with some physical assessments (range of motion, muscle strength)

No prescribing or treatment responsibilities

Quick credentialing and onboarding process

Travel reimbursements included in rates; no reimbursements for certifications or portal training before starting

Commitment to completing administrative follow-up work, including report addendums and reading diagnostics
