The department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is seeking applicants for a faculty, full-time position. This is a unique academic position that offers the opportunity to work in a leading-edge care referral center - Sentara Norfolk General Hospital; a level one trauma center recognized nationally for its excellence across numerous specialties.

Responsibilities
- Assess patients with conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address functional limitations and improve quality of life.
- Conduct thorough patient evaluations.
- Monitor patient progress and make adjustments as needed.
- Collaborate with physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
- Educate patients and families about their conditions, treatment options, and self-management strategies.
- Provide care to patients in a hospital setting.
- Participate in education evaluation and career development of students, residents, fellows, and staff.
- Engage in academic/clinical/research activities as needed.
- Participate in administrative, department policy and procedure development.
- Serve on committees as assigned.
- Utilize communication skills to present teaching materials.
- Counsel students for academic performance, life skills, and professionalism.
- Manage day-to-day activities in accordance with EVMS policies and the policies of supporting institutions.
Qualifications
Candidates must have an MD or DO and be board certified or board eligible, having completed an ACGME accredited residency. Applicants must hold a Virginia medical license and DEA certification. The faculty candidate must be committed to a career in academic medicine and must be interested in combining clinical practice with resident education and research. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.
