** Abdominal Transplant Surgeon
** to join our well-established transplant programs in Norfolk, Virginia. This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated, team-oriented physician with strong clinical and interpersonal skills to help shape and expand a dynamic program.
** Sentara Norfolk General Hospital
** has been a leading center for kidney and pancreas transplants since 1972, performing over 2,000 successful transplants and offering comprehensive care for patients with end-stage renal disease. The Sentara Transplant center is recognized as one of the most active kidney transplant centers in Virginia, performing between 90-120 transplants annually including multivesicular kidney pancreas and heart kidney transplants. The program also offers robotic and laparoscopic living donor kidney transplantation and participates with the National Kidney Registry.
Additionally, 8-12 pediatric kidney transplants are performed annually in collaboration with the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters.
** Position Highlights:
*** Join a team of 2 experienced Abdominal Transplant surgeons, to facilitate program growth and development. The ideal candidate should have 3-5 years of experience and demonstrate robust capabilities with a commitment to quality and regulatory metrics. There are opportunities for clinical and translational research and participation in medical student and resident education are expected.#
** Education
* ** Completion of an accredited American Board of Surgery general surgery residency program and an ASTS-approved fellowship program in solid organ transplantation.
* Eligible for or a licensed to practice medicine in Virginia
* Candidates must be actively performing or trained to perform living donor nephrectomies and kidney transplantation in their current position and have a strong interest in living donor kidney transplantation.
