Construction Laborer / Utility Crew Member
A growing utility and infrastructure contractor is seeking dependable, safety‑focused Construction Laborers to join their field crews. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands‑on work, outdoor environments, and being part of a team that builds and maintains essential underground utility systems.
What You’ll Do- Dig, spread, and level dirt, gravel, and backfill using hand tools such as shovels and picks.
- Lift, carry, and stage materials, tools, and jobsite supplies.
- Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas to ensure a safe and organized site.
- Mix, pour, and spread concrete, asphalt, gravel, and other materials using hand tools.
- Assist with pipe assembly, cutting, and laying for water, sewer, and utility installations.
- Remove forms from set concrete and support crews with layout, grade checking, and site prep.
- Communicate with equipment operators to guide cuts, fills, and trenching activities.
- 1+ years of construction, utility, or pipe laying experience.
- Ability to perform physical labor in outdoor environments.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Able to obtain base access (DBIDS).
- Strong work ethic, safety awareness, and willingness to learn.
- Outdoor, fast‑paced construction environment.
- Monday through Saturday schedule, averaging 40–50 hours per week.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Norfolk, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
