Property Accountant

The qualified candidate will be responsible for all required day-to-day accounting functions for an assigned portfolio of properties and will be the primary accounting liaison to operational staff and corporate departments. This position requires a motivated self-starter who enjoys challenges, is analytical and detail oriented with a solid foundation in accounting principles.

• Prepare all month end reporting and related journal entries to ensure financial statements reflect actual and complete results in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Maintain assigned property checkbooks and financial reports in Excel.
• Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts and research variances.
• Reconcile related bank accounts and research variances.
• Approve accounts payable as they relate to your assigned property.
• Maintain accuracy of escrow accounts and applicable lender reporting requirements.
• Review and prepare general ledger journal entries to post daily activity and clear account variances.
• Track fixed assets and prepare necessary schedules.
• Assist with internal control evaluations.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests.
• Assist with annual budget preparation.
• Preparation of related VHDA, HUD and lender monthly reporting requirements.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with property management software, One‑Site and Real Page.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Must be professional, self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, reliable, and have strong organizational skills.
